Hradec Kralove meeting

The second workshop from the Comenius international project, A Short Movie from the Viewpoint of Young European, took place in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, from 5 to 10 February 2012. Students and members of the staff involved in this workshop met their colleagues from the other partner schools from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Greece and Turkey. The topic was A day in our school. Our students from year 10 prepared a movie about a day in ISB. They filmed different lessons, free time activities, and interviews with students and teachers. Alexandru Constantinescu was in charge with the editing of the movie. In Hradec Kralove we shared our school life experience with our partners who became our new friends. Each team presented a short movie about the educational system and the school life in general. Our hosts, the students from Vyšší odborná škola zdravotnická a Střední zdravotnická škola (this is the name of our host school from Hradec Kralove), taught us some basic things about first aid, as they study in a Medical School and these first aid actions are part of their school activities. We organized a one day trip to Prague and we’ve been all impressed by its varied collections of architecture from Art Nouveau to Baroque, Renaissance, Cubist, Gothic, Neo-Classical and ultra-modern. Lucie Koblizkova was our guide and after showing us the most important cultural and touristic places, she took us to her favorite cake shop where we had the opportunity to taste ones of the best cakes ever, all in a bohemian environment.
We believed this experience enhanced us and we are looking forward for the next meeting that will take place in Naples, Italy, in April 2012.

Budapest meeting

On November 2011, four of our year 9 students had the first Comenius project meeting in Budapest. During this event they had the chance to exchange ideas with their colleagues from the other countries and to learn more about European cultures, languages and values. They also improved their skills in the art of filming, as this was one of the topics in the Budapest workshop. Another topic was Traditional Food. For this topic our students prepared a presentation about the International Day, event that ISB hosts every year.

About our project

The International School of Bucharest (www.isb.ro) became partner in a Comenius international project named "A Short Movie from the Viewpoint of Young Europeans". Our partners are schools from Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Greece and Turkey. Students and members of the staff involved in this project will have the opportunity to meet and work with their colleagues from the other partner schools. Visits to the 7 partner countries will take place. During these visits the participants will be involved in workshops on different topics such as: eating habits, historical places, cultural activities in the school, religious and national holidays, shooting a movie, digital art. For each meeting they will have to produce short movies on a preset topic.

Comenius projects aim to help young people and educational staff better understand the range of European cultures, languages and values. They also help young people acquire the basic life skills and competences necessary for personal development, future employment and active citizenship.

Meeting different countries, cultures and ways of thinking, the students involved in this project will expand their horizons. People involved in this project will be positively affected by experiencing the cultural differences. Participants will grow up as individuals sensitive towards their families and society, individuals who can solve problems and create solutions, who improve their skills in cooperating with official, civil, and social institutions.

The other aim of the project is to improve our students’ social, cultural and organizational potential and skills. In this way, the students successfully completing the project will be able to adapt to new situations and environments. Among cultural diversity, they will learn to respect personal differences and tolerate different ideas, concepts and cultural facts not just theoretically but practically as well.
